Federico Gallo is an Italian artist based in London, working across drawing, painting and photography. His practice interrogates identity as a constructed and unstable condition, unfolding through faces, masks and composite figures that oscillate between the personal and the collective.
Central to his work is the process of externalising the self: translating internal states into image, gesture and surface. His visual language moves between observation and invention, where fragmentation, layering and repetition become tools to navigate memory, displacement and perception.
Alongside his studio practice, Gallo develops long-term, socially engaged projects that function as an extension of his artistic inquiry. Working within community and residential contexts, he constructs participatory frameworks where authorship is shared and image-making becomes a site of visibility and exchange.
His work has been presented through exhibitions, publications and public projects in collaboration with organisations including the Royal College of Art, SPACE Studios/Arlington House, StMungo’s, Saatchi & Saatchi and the Royal Academy of Art.
He holds an MA in Communication Art from the Royal College of Art.
